Born in 1949 in Villanova Monteleone (Sardinia), where he currently resides.
In 2000 he opened – and directed until 2008 – the exhibition centre specialised in photography Su Palatu ‘e Sas Iscolas in Villanova Monteleone. In 2006 he put together the first edition of the biennial “Menotrentuno. Young European photography in Sardinia”. From 2008 to 2015 he taught photography at the school of fine arts in Sassari (Sardinia). Since 2011 he is the president of the cultural association “Su Palatu_Fotografia”. He exhibited in Sassari, Cagliari, Nuoro, Rome, Milan, Turin, Bastia, Frankfurt, Berlin, London, and participated in festivals in Italy, Hungary, Portugal and Greece.
He exhibited in numerous small towns in Sardinia: Martis, Gavoi, Torralba, Lodine, Oliena, Mamoiada, Pirri, Perdasdefogu, Olzai, Teulada, Villasor, Olmedo, Teti, Bitti, Asuni, Ittiri, San Sperate, Arzachena, Mara, Ulassai, Neoneli, Mogoro.
His national debut happened through landscape images exhibited in Milan (Motta editor), a genre he is identified with by many. He published over forty monographic books and curated around one hundred exhibitions of international young photographers and authors. Among others, in 2001, Cardinali, assassini, nature morte by Marco Delogu; in 2003, Ground Zero by Joel Meyerowitz (USA); in 2005, Cavalieri della Mongolia by Franco Zecchin, within the International Festival of Photography in Rome; Sardinia by Leonard Sussman at the Pandora Gallery in Lyon (France); La strada felice. Paesaggio e fotografia contemporanea, editorial and photography project; in 2006, Mafia by Letizia Battaglia and Franco Zecchin hosted at the national Calcografica in Rome; Oltreluce by Massimo Drago and Landschaften by Mario Arca, at the Aroma Gallery in Berlin (Germany). In 2007, Ispantos by Dario Coletti and Lontano dal nome by Luca Gabino, at the art space Ala Mazzoniana of Termini Station in Rome, within the International Festival of Photography; Mamuthones by Luca Nostri, Aroma Gallery in Berlin. In 2008, Golden Eagle Nomads by John Delaney (USA), Dietro l’ombra by Rogen Ballen (USA); in 2009, Zucchero amaro by Pablo Volta; in 2010, Paesaggi by Massimo Mastrorillo. Since 2015 he manages “A.Banda”, festival of contemporary photography in Sardinia.
